R.I.P. VAN WINKLE is a new musical adaptation expanding the legend of Rip Van Winkle into a highly spirited, wonderfully touching theatrical piece suitable for the entire family. The original musical score was 3 years in the making, and inspired by numerous trips to the Catskill Mountain region of Palenville, NY.
The creation of this project was inspired by talking to “locals” regarding the legend, picking apart Washington Irving’s original story, using influences found in several 19th Century “RIP” scripts, and tapping into the resources available at the Lincoln Center Library, New York City. I’m sure you will fall in love with the old fashioned charm and loveable characters!
