Last weekend I attended a performance of “Robin Hood and the White Arrow” at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, and it was in a word, superb. First of all, I thought – a musical about the Robin Hood Legends? How did I miss that in New York? Well, as it turns out, this gem of a musical hasn’t been to New York – yet. But with the wonderful treatment and exceptional showcase this production is given, along with the brilliant performances I witnessed, this show will certainly achieve stardom! I have seen several performances at the Rose, and am always amazed at the high caliber of talent this venue attracts, along with beautiful sets, costumes and once again – incredible musical talent! Seasoned actors of all ages fitting each part like a glove make for an enjoyable evening of quality entertainment! Kudos must be extended to the Rose Center Artistic staff for continually raising the level of musical theater here in Orange County. The Direction, Choreography and intricate swordplay sequences are simply wonderful and it is so nice to see these elements “enhancing” a show, rather than simply “servicing” it. But, highest marks must go to the Music. A perfect blend of beautiful ballads, robust ensemble pieces and comedic ditties executed by some of the most powerful voices in the County! Thanks Rose Center for once again turning out a winner!
